Noverint universi per presents nos   William Morgan     pochi de Goytre     in Comitatu Monmouth gent and Walter Evans of the parish of Lanvair Kelgidin in the said County yeoman       teneri et firmiter obligari       bone et Legalis monete Anglie solvendis eidem       aut certo attornato executorbus administrators vel assign suis ad quam quidem solutionem bene et fideliter faciendam obligamus nos et utrumque nostrum per se pro toto et in solidum heredes, executors et administrators nostros firmiter per presents per presentes sigillis nostris sigillatas Date 2 December 1677

The condition of this obligation is such, that if the wthin bounden William Morgan ye nephew and administrator of all and singular the goods chattles and credits of Edmund Griffith of ye pish of Goytre late deceased doe make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all & singular the goods chattles and credits of the sd deceased which have or shall come to the hands possion or knowledge of the sayd William Morgan or into the hands or possion of any other pson or psons for him and the same soe made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Episcopall Court of Landaff at or before the second day of March next ensueing.

And the same goods chattles and credits and all other the goods chattles and credits of the sd deceased at the time of his death which at any time after shall come to the hands or possion of the sd William Morgan or into the hands and possion of any other pson for him doe well and truely administer according to law.

And further doe make or caus to be made a true and iust accompt of the sd adcon at or before the second day of December 1678 next. And all the rest & residue of the sd goods chattles and credits wch shall be found remaining upon the sd adm’tors accompt the same being first examined and allowed by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the sd Court shall deliver and pay unto such person and persons respectively as the sd Judge or Judges by his or their decree or sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of a certaine Act of Parliament intituled an Act for the better settling of Intestates Estates shall limitt and apoint.

And if it shall heere after apeere that any last will & Testamt was made by the sayd deceased and the executor or executors therein named doe exhibit the same in the sd Court making request to have it allowed and aproved accordingly if the sd William Morgan wthin bounden being there unto required doe render & deliver the sd Lts of Adm’con then this pr’sent obl’ion to be voyd and of no effect or els the same to be in full force & virtue.

Item I give & bequeath towards the repation of the Cathedrall Church of Landaph twelve pence.

Item I give & bequeath to my brother William Robert the some of twelve pownds lawefull English money to be payed by my to sisters Gwenllyan Robert & Jane Robert theyer executors adm’str’s or assignes or by either of them at the full end & tearme of one whole yeare next after my decease being pte & pcell of fiftye pownds wch was ordered by one deede of feofement conveyed by Robert Jenkins late deceased & the above named Thomas Robert to the use & behoofe of Gwenllyan Robert & Jane Robert & theyer heyers in wch deede the sayed Robert Jenkins did appoynt the sayed some of fiftye pownds to be payed to such psons as the sayed Thomas Robert shoulde bequeath then by his last Will & Testament top be payed by the sayed Gwenllyan Robert & Jane Robert.

Item I give & bequeath to my two neeces Blaynch Griffith & Elizabeth Griffith the daughters of William Griffith the some of fower pownds to be payed unto them by equall portions at the full end & tearme of one yeare & a halfe next after my decease.

Item I give & bequeath to my three neaphews William Griffith, Rumsey Griffith & John Griffith the sonns of William Griffith the some of fower pownds to be payed unto them by equall portions, that is to say, on pownd six shillings & eight pence a peece to be payed at the tearme aforesayed. Item I give & bequeath to my neece Shusan the daughter of David Phillipp the some of twenty shillings to be payed when shee shall accomplish the full adge of one & twenty yeares. Item I give and bequeath to my neaphew George the sonn of David Phillipp the some of twenty shillings to payed as above sayed. Item I give & bequeath to my neaphew & God sonn Thomas the sonn of William Robert the some of Tenn pownds to be payed unto him when he shall accomplish his full adge of one & twenty yeares. Item I give & bequeath to my two neeces being both called Elizabeth the daughters of William Robert the some of twentye shillings a peece to be payed as above sayed. Item I give & bequeath to my neaphew Mathew the sonn of William Robert the some of twentye shillings to be payed as above sayed. Item I give & bequeath to my coozen Cicill Mathew Tenn shillings within on month next after my decease. Item I give & bequeath to my two sisters Gwenllyan & Jane the some of six pownds by equall portions being pte of the fiftye pownds above recited. Item I doe nominate & appoynt the sayed Gwenllyan & Jane to satisfye & pay unto Andrew Parry & Alce his wife the some of fower pownds with such interest that shalbe in arreare & unpayed the first day of May next. Item I doe allowe the sayed Gwenllyan Robert & Jane Robert the some of fower pownds being pte of the sayed fiftye pownds in liewe of £4 wch I owe unto them both by theyer joynt bond. I Roger Morgan of the parish of Goytre in the county of Monmouth yeoman sick and weak in body but of good and pfect memory ? praise be to Almighty God and calling to remembrance the ? ? of this transitory life and that all flesh might yeild unto death when it please God to call, do make, ordayne, constitute and declare this my last will and testement in manner and form following revoking and anulling by these ? All and will testament and testament will and wills hereto fore by me made and declared? by word or by writing, and this is to be taken? for my last will and testement and non other and being penitent sorry from the bottom of my hart for my sins past, most humbly beseeching forgivness for the same, I give and commit my soul unto Almighty God, my saviour and redeemer, in whom and by the merit of Jesus Christ, trust and behind assuredly to be saved, and, to gane full remission and forgiveness of all my sins, and that my soul with my body at the general day of resurrection? Rise again with joy and through the merit of Christs death and passing, to possess and inherit the? ? Buryd in? And place where it shall please my executrix hereafter named.

I do appoynt, and ? for the setling of my temporal ? Such goods and chattles as it hath pleased God (farr above my ? ) to bestow upon me. Item I give and bequeath two milch kyne to ? towards payment of my debts. Itme I give and bequeath unto my son Oliver Morgan one? One year next after my decease.

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Morgan one? And? At her side within five months next after my decease.   Item, I give and bequeath unto my grand child Charles Morgan one ewe and lamb within five months next after my decease.

Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild Jane one ewe and lamb within one half year next after my decease. Item I give and bequeath all the rest of my goods cattle and chattles? And grain in the house and in the barn and all my household stuff implements and household unbequeathed unto my loving wife Heaster Morgan to her sole?………? And maintenance.

Lastly I do nominate and appoint the said Heaster my wife to be sole executris of this my last will and testement in witness whereof I have unto put my hand the day and year first above written.

In the name of God Amen the fourtenth day of January in the yeare of our Lord God acording to the computation of the Church of England one thousand six hundred seventy eight I Rice Williams of the parish of Goytrey in the County of Monmoth and diossese of Landaph freman calling to remembrance the uncertaty of man life not knowing how when or wheare these our mortall bodies shall be dissolved and ended and minding by grace to let one order such transitory things as God hath blesed me with all to the intent my mind may be unburthed with the care thereof whensoever it shall please God to call for me or otherwise to visite me with greater extremity of sicnes being now sick in body but of good and perfect memory praised be to God Allmighty therefore do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in maner and forme folowing. Vide. First and principally I comend my soulle unto the Allmighty God my creator and unto Jesus Christ my redemer through whose merits presious death and passion I hope to be saved and to have forgivenes of all my sines and my body to buried in Christian buriall in the church of Goytrey. In the name of God Amen the tenth day of Februarye in the eight & twentith yeare of the raigne of our Sovraigne Lord & King Charles the second, King of England &c Anno Domini 1675 I Fortune Morgan of the pish of Goyterye in the Countye of Monmoth and wthin the Dioces of Landaph widdowe being sicke in boddy but of good & pfecte memorye & remembrance praysed be God for the same doe hereby make & ordeyne this my last will and Testament in manner & forme following (that is to say) First & principallye I comend my soule into the hands of God my maker to Jesus Christ my Redeemer & to the Holly Ghost my santefier by whose meritts mercie & pressious death & passion I hope to saved & to enioy that everlasting kingdom prepared for the faithfull & for my boddye I bequeath it unto the earth from whence it came thence to remayne untill that greate day of the resurrection of the dead & to be buried in decent manner in the pish church of Mamhilad, as for the goods & psonall estate the Lord hath pleased to lend mee I give and bequeath them in manner & forme following.

Item I give & bequeath to Jenkin Rosser & Elizabeth his wife the full some of three pownds & ninteene shillings being the full remaynder & residue of the fore sayed some of five pownds being due & payable by my sonn William Thomas his bond of tenn pownds for payment there as above said wthin the space of three months next after my decease to be payed unto the said Jenkin & Elizabeth according to the tenure of the sayed bond.

As for any other goods or psonall estate that remayneth in my possession being unbequeathed as afforesaid if any bee, I give & bequeath them to my sonn in lawe Jenkin Rosser & Elizabeth his wife whome I make & ordeyne my whole & joynt executors of this my last will & testament nulling & revoking all former wills & testaments, to see my depts & legacies payed & my funerall expences discharged.

Item I doe give and bequeath to my mother the use of all my household stuffe dureinge her naturall life exceptinge the use of one bed wch I doe give to my brother Valentine during such tyme as he shall remaine sole and unmarried.

Item I doe give and bequeath unto Margaret the daughter of John Andrew fortie shillings to be payed unto her wthin five yeares next after my decease.

Item I doe give and bequeath to William and John the sonns of John Andrew fortie shillings to be payed unto them and to be equally divided betweene them wthin five yeares next after my decease. And if it happen that either of them shall decease before ye shall attaine the age of one and twentie yeares then my mind is that his or her legazie shall be divided betweene them that shall survive and attaine to that age provided that theire father shall secure my executors hereafter named that the said children shall seale a sufficient dischardge unto him confirming the said legazies when they shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeares.

Item I doe give and bequeath amongst the five children of my brother Thomas Watkine that are now livinge five pownds of current English money to be payed unto them and to be equally divided betweene them wthin six yeares next after my decease. And if any of them happen to die before they accomplish the age of one and twentie yeares then my mynd is the said legazie shallbe divided amongst them that shall survive and come to that age provided allwaies that their father shall secure my executors (page creased) that the said children shall seale a sufficient dischardge concerninge the said legazie when they shall accomplish the age of one and twentie yeares.

Item I doe give and bequeath to my brother Valentine one coffer and one cowboord wch remaineth in the end of my house.

Item I doe appoint and ordaine that my brother Walter shall keepe and maintaine my mother during her life in health and in sickness wth sufficient meat, drinke, clothes and all other necessaries. And if it happen that my brother shall decease before her then my mind is that he shall secure fortie shillings a yeare to be payed unto her duringe her life towards her maintenaunce.

Item I doe appoynt that my brother Valentine shall have the use of a chamber in my house wth free ingress and regress there for his bedinge soe longe as he shall remaine sole and unmarried.

Item I doe give and bequeath all my goods, cattle, household stuff, corne and moveables whatsoever unbequeathed alreadie to my brother Walter Harry whom I doe nominate, ordain and appoynt sole executor of this my last will and testament and doe revoke all other willes by me made.

John Williams Goytrey – Proved 10th September

In the name of God Amen the thyrtenth daye of March in the yeare of our Lord God accordinge to the computacon of the Church of England 1671 I John Williams of the parish of Goytre in the County of Monmoth gent & wthin the diocesse of Ladaff sicke & weake in bodie, but of good & pfect remembrance (laude & prayse be to allmighty God) doe make and ordayne this my last will & Testament in writinge in maner & forme followinge, by these p’sents revoakinge all former testament & testaments will & wills by me heeretofore made by word or by writinge, and this onely to be taken for my last will & testament & non other. Fyrst beinge penitent for all my sins I comend my soule into the handes of allmighty God my maker & redeemer and I trust and beleeve through the mearitts of Jesus Christ my saviour to life againe at the gen’all daye of resurrection of the dead to inherit the Kingdome of Heaven p’pared for the elect in the world to come, and my bodie to be buryed in Christian buriall accordinge to the discretion of my executrix heereafter named.

Item I give towards the repacon of the Cathedrall Church of Landaffe vid. Item I give to the Rector of Goytre for my tith forgotten & unpayed .

Item I give devise & bequeath unto Jane my lovinge wife all my capitall messuage wherein I live wth all barnes buyldings gardens orchardes land or arrable meadow pasture & wooded groundes thereunto belonging & therewth used ocupied & enioyed in a large & ample maner as I doe now hould & enioy the same contayning by estymacone fower score & sixteene acres more or less lying and being wthin the pishes of Goytre & Mamhilad aforesaid in the said County together wth the moyety or one halfe of one water corne grist mill called Melyn Llys Morgan wth all ponds flauckes? floodgates & sluces thereunto belongings scittuatt lying & beinge wthin the pish of Mamhilad in the said Countye & one pcell of land called Kae yr Trow lying in Mamhilad afforesaid & all those five closes or pcells of land arrable medowe & pasture called Gwrlode yr Clearcke & Tonn blechie & one messuage wth the appurtences in the possession of my brother Walter Williams & one cottage wth thapputences in the possession of Thomas Williams all lying & beinge in Mamhilad afforesaid in the said County. Alsoe I give & devise unto ye said Jane my wife all my messuage & lands wth all theyre appurtenances called Coed y Constable lying & beinge in Goytre afforesaid in as lardge & ample maner as I doe now hould & enioy the same wth thappurtences to have & to hould all & singular the said sev’all messuages lands & tenements together wth the moytie of the said watter corne grist mill unto Jane Williams my said wife for & duringe the terme of her naturall life onely towards her joyncture & livlyhood in recompence of her mariage porcon wch I received wth her & towards the accomplish’t of my promise & agreement made & concluded between us before our mariage solempnised. And after the decease of Jane my said wife I give & devise the said capitall messuage wth all the lands arrable meadow & pasture thereunto belonging together wth the moytie of the said mill wth all & singular theyr appurtenances unto my brother Georg Williams & to the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten, and for want of such yssue I give & devise the said capitall messuage wth all the said lands thereunto belonging wth thapprut’s together wth the said moytie of the said mill unto my brother David Williams and to the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten, and in default of such yssue I give & devise the remaynder of the said capitall messuage landes & p’misses together wth the moytie of the said mill wth theyre appurtenances unto my brother Walter Williams & to the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten, and for want of such yssue I give the remaynder of the said capitall messuage & the lands & p’misses thereunto belonging together wth the moytie of the said mill unto my brother Phillipp Williams & to the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten. And in default of such yssue the remaynder of the said p’misses unto the right heyres of me the said John Williams forever. Item I give & devise the said pcell of lands called Kae yr tyrow after the decesse of Jane my said wife unto my said brother David Williams for & duringe the terme of his naturall life onely paying one penie of current money yearely duringe his life unto my said brother & heyre George Williams yf it be lawfully demanded. And after his deceasse I give & devise the said pcell of land called Kae yr triow unto my said brother George Williams & the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten. Item I give devise & bequeath the said messuage wherein my brother Walter Williams liveth & three cloces or pcells of meadowe thereunto belonginge wth thappurtences after the decease of Jane my said wife unto my said brother Walter Williams for & duringe the terme of his naturall life onely paying one peny of curre money unto my said brother George Williams yf it be lawfully demanded. And after the decesse of my said brother Walter Williams I give & devise the remaynder of the said messuage & three pcells of meadow wth thappurtencs unto my said brother George Williams & to the hayres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten. Item I give devise & bequeath the moytie or one halfe of my said messuage & lands wth the appurtences after the decease of the said Jane my wife unto my said brother Phillipp Williams for & duringe the terme of his naturall life onely paying one peny of current money yearly unto my said brother George Williams yf yt be lawfully demanded. And after his decease I give & devise the remaynder of the said moytie of the said messuage & landes called Coed y Constable unto my said brother George Williams & the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten forever. Item I give devise & bequeath the other moytie of the said pmisses called Coed y Constable after the decease of Jane my said wife unto my said brother George Williams & the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten forever. Item I give & devise unto Thomas William after the decease of the said Jane my wife the said cottage wherein the said Thomas William liveth & two litle closes or pcells of landes thereunto adioyinge wth thappurtences called Tonn techy? unto the said Thomas William for & duringe the terme of his naturall life onely payinge therefore yearly unto my said brother George Williams one peny of current money yf it be lawfully demanded. And after his decease I give & devise the remaynder of the said cottage & two pcells of land called Tonn tochy? unto my said brother George Williams & to the heyres of his bodie lawfully begotten or to be begotten forever. Lastly I give & bequeath unto the said Jane my wife all my goodes cattle chattell corne and grayne whatsoever aswell in my house as in my barne unthreshed & all my corne growinge in fildes & all my houshould stuff & implements of howshould stuff whatsoever. And of this my last will & testament I doe nomynatt appoynt & ordayne the said Jane my lovinge wife to be sole executrix & I doe nominate & appoynt Francis Tyler & John Jones gent to be sup’visor of this my last will & Testament. In the name of God the eleventh day of October Ano dni 1671, I John ap John of the pish of Goytresse wthin the diocese of Landaffe being sicke in body but of good and pfect memory (praysed be thalmighty God therefore) doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testamt in maner and forme followeing. Impris I comend my soule to God my maker & redeemer and my body to be buried in Xptian buriall in the pish church of Lanellen. Item I give devise and bequeath unto Elizabeth my wife all my messuadges lands and tenements wch I purchased of William Phillip of Cwmjoy and also other lands and tenem’ts wch I purchased from Jenkin Parry and Barbara Parry of Trevethin, both wch sd lands and p’mises are scituate and lyeing in thaforesaid sev’all parishes of Goytresse & Trevethin for and dureing the term of her naturall life if she shall soe long continue sole and unmarried. Item after the decease of Elizabeth my sd wife or if it shall happen my sd wife to marry after my decease I give and bequeath thafore menconed messuadge and lands wch I purchased to me & my heirs of thaforesd William Phillip of Cwmjoy unto James John my eldest son his heirs & assigns for ev’ upon the con’ition and consideracon that the said James shall satisfie and pay the sume of tenn pound of current English money unto William John my youngest son or to his executors administrators or assigns when the sd William shall attaine to the age of one and twenty yeares and alsoe after the decease of Elizabeth my said wife or if it shall happen the said Elizabeth to marry after my decease I give likewise and bequeath thaforesaid lands and tenem’ts wch I purchased of Jenkin Parry and Barbara Parry unto William John my son his heirs and assigns for ev’. Item I give devise and bequeath unto Elizabeth my said wife all the lands and tenem’ts which I purchased of Thomas Jones of Lanvrechva for and dureing the full end & tearme of one and twenty yeares next ensuing after my decease if she shall soe long continue unmarried, and after the expiration of the sd tearme of one and twenty yeares or if it happeneth her to marry in the meane time I give and devise the same unto James John my son his heirs & assigns for ev’ upon the condicon of the paym’t of the above menconed sume of tenn pound unto my aforesd son William at and upon the tyme before limited and expressed, and alsoe if my sd son James will then refuse & deny to pay the same unto my son William or his assigns my Will and meaning is that my son William shall possesse and enjoy the said lands menconed to be purchased of Thomas Jones for the space of four yeares next ensueing after such denyall & refusall made and after the expiracon thereof the same to be & remaine unto my said? son James John his heirs & assigns for ev’. Item I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth my said wife soe much wood now growing upon my lands scituate in the pish of Goytresse as will amount to the worth of £40 (if so much may conveniently be spared) and my will is yt the same moneyes be disposed towards a full paym’t and satisfacon made unto Mathew Charles of Lanvethiraine for certain lands I agreed wth him for if the sd Mathew will assure and co’vey the same unto Elizabeth my wife dureing her widdowhood and afterwards to James John my son his heirs & assignes for ev’. Item I give & devise all my psonall estate whatsoev’ unto Elizabeth my wife whom I nominat & appoint to be sole executrix of this my last will & Testam’t and Henry Morgan & William Morgan to be supviso’s thereof. In witnesse whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seale the day month and yeare first above written.
