John Morgan ~ Goytre

In the Name of God Amen, I John Morgan of the parish of Goytrey in the county of Monmouth and diocese of Landaff, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to Almighty God for the same, do therefore make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following:

First I give and bequeath to my sister Rachel Gunter the sum of one pound sterling to be paid within one year of after my decease.

I give and bequeath also my nephew John Gunter the sum of one pound to be paid within one year after my decease.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother Charles Morgan the sum of five pounds in case he will save and indemnify my wife from all expenses towards and arising from a sum of money which I am bound for to the Rev’d Mr Rogers.

Item: I give and bequeath to my nephew Walter Prosser the sum of two pounds and ten shillings to be paid him within one year after my decease.

Item: I give and bequeath to my nephew Thomas Prosser the lease of the house in which I now dwell and its appurtenances after my wife’s death, provided his behaviour is obliging towards her in the mean time, otherwise only the sum of two pounds and ten shillings after her decease.

And lastly, as to the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate, goods, chattels of what kind and nature soever, I give and bequeath to my said beloved wife Rachel Morgan, whom I hereby appoint executrix of this my last will and testament, herby revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named John Morgan to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of, who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator.
