May 31st Obituary – Mr J. H. Goode, Goytre

The death occurred following a short illness of Mr John Henry Goode, of 14, Plough Road, Goytre. Born at Church Farm, Llanvaches, Mr Goode had served with H. M. Forces abroad and on his return to this country was employed by the Monmouthshire War Agricultural Committee for eleven years as a transport driver, and later by Messrs E. B. Rees, Transport, Newport. He had lived at Goytre, for the past twelve years.

The funeral took place at All Saint’s Church, Kemeys Commander, where the Rev. J. L. Eveleigh officiated, and Miss Messenger was organist.

Humphreys, Mr and Mrs J. Muir, Mrs D. Norgrove, sisters and brothers-in-law; Mrs M. Douglas, mother-in-law; Mr and Mrs A. Mathews, Mr E. Harris, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law; Mr B. Rowlands, Mr G. Richards, nephews; Mr and Mrs W. Brooks, Messrs Martin Brooks and Max Brooks, cousins.

Others present included Messrs Ernie Lewis, W. Essex, G. Richards, Ron Griffiths, John Morgan, Ted Harris, F. Messenger, William Baker, Ben Rowlands, F. W. Griffiths, Des and H. Mathews, J.
