Edward Mathew Goytrey – 9th March 1801

In the name of God Amen I Edward Mathews of the parish of Goytrey in the county of Monmouth (late labourer) being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in the following manner and form.

 First I give and bequeath to Barbara my wife the sum of one shilling to be paid to her by my executor after my decease.

Also I give to my trusty friend John Williams of the parish of Llanellen in the said county farmer (whom I likewise make and ordain the sole executor of this my last will and testament) all and singular my lands messuages and tenements situate in the parish of Lanover in the said county of Monmouth by him freely to be possessed and enjoyed and I do herby revoke and make void all former will or wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and one.
