In the name of God Amen the ninth day of July according to the computation of the church of England one thousand six hundred and ninety and six.

I Joan Richard alias Morgan of the parish of Goytre in the County of Momouth within the diocese of Landaff being sick in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God do make constitute ordayne and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following revoking by these ? wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word or by writing. And this to be taken only form last will and testament and none other

And first being penitent and sorry for my sins most humbly begging pardon and forgiveness for the same. I give and ? my soul unto Almighty God my saviour and redeemer in whom by the merit of Jesus Christ and trust and believe assuredly to be saved and to have full remission and forgiveness of all my sins

And now for the settling of my temporal estate and ? goods as it hath pleased God far above my desert to bestow upon me,  I do order and give and dispose the same in manner and form following.

Ite First I ? of my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged.

IteI give and bequeath towards my funeral expenses the sum of ten pounds to be paid by my executor thereafter named.

Ite I give and bequeath unto Jane and Gwenllian the daughters of David Beevan of Goytrey the sum of forty pounds to be equally divided between them and paid by my executor within the space of two years next after my decease towards the use of the said Jane and Gwenllian to be set out by my executor all the best advantage for ye said of the said Jane and Gwenllian.

Ite. I give and bequeath unto Charles Morgan of Llanvihangel juxta Usk the son of Wm Morgan of Goytre the sum of ten pounds to be paid within the space of two years next after my death.

Ite I give and bequeath unto Jane the wife of David Beevan of Goytrey the sum of ten pounds to be paid within the space of ? years next after my decease.

Ite I give and bequeath unto Gwenllian the wife of William Morgan William of Goytrey the sum of twenty shillings.

Ite. I give unto Ann the wife of William Watkins Thos of Goytrey and their son Richard and the sum of one pound to be divided between them.

Ite. I give unto Jon Watkin Thomas. Andrey Morgan, Jenkin William and Jas Rosser of Goytrey the sum of one pound to be equally divided between them:

Ite. I give unto Jane the wife of David Beevan of Goytrey all my wearing apparell.

All the rest and residue of my personal estate goods and chattels whatsoever I give and bequeath unto William Morgan of the parish of Goytrey whom I constitute name and appoint free and sole executor of this my last will and testament in witness thereof I the said Joan Richard alias Morgan to this my last will and sett my hand and seal the day and year above. in the eighth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord William the ? In the name of God the tenth day of Jully in the third yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord & lady Kinge William and quin Marry by the grace of God Kinge of England Scotland France and Ireland Kinge and quin defender of the faith &c Anno dni 1691 I William Charles of the parish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth yeoman being sick in body yet of good & perfect memory God be praised doe make or ordaine this my last will and Testament in maner and forme following that is to say. First I doe comend my soulle to Imighty God my maker and redeemer and my body to be buried in Christian burial and allso I doe give and bequeath towards the reparacon of the Cathedrall Church of Landaph six pence. I doe give devise and bequeath unto Marry my well belloved wife my lands and tenement hereditaments and house where in I doe dwell in the parish of Goytre to have and to hould the said house and tenement unto Marry my said wife during the tearme of her naturall life. Item I give devise and bequeath after the desese of Marry my said wife the house and lands where in I doe now dwell to John my said sone and to Thomas my second sone and to Harry my third sone joyntly betwene them three and to the lonest liver of them and to ther heires for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto Marry my said wife three pound in the hands of John Andrew of Goytre which he owes me by bond. Itm I give and bequeath unto my said wife Marry the sume of four pounds with there enterest for three? yeares which is due unto me from Richard John Richard by bond. Item I give and bequeath unto my said wife Marry the sume of three pounds which is due unto me from Howell Jones of Lanover and one yeare enterest by specialty. Item I doe give and bequeath unto Marry my said wife being my executrix all my goods catell and chatells implements of househould stufe and moneys by bonds and with out bonds unto Marry my wife beinge my executrix during her naturall life and after her desese to be equally devided betwene my four sones and I doe hereby nominate and apoynt Marry my said wife to be solle executrix of this my last wife [sic] and Testament witnes whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seall the day month and yeare first above written. This Indenture made the fowerteenth day of September in the yeare of our Lord God according to the computation of the Church of England one thousand six hundred ninety and two betweene the right hono’ble George Lord of Abergavenny of the one part and Walter Cecill of the parish of Llanover in the County of Monmouth gent of the other part. Witnesseth that the said George Lord of Abergavenny for and in consideration of the surrender of a lease bearinge date the five and twentieth day of November in the fower and twentieth yeare of the reigne of King James the first made betweene the right hono’ble Edward Nevill then Lord of Abergavenny and Sr William Sedely of Aylsford in the County of Kent Knight and Baronet of the one part and Bartholomew Springet of the City of Bristoll merchant of the other part of a certaine parcell of land called Alt and Burgum conteyning one hundred acres beinge in the parish of Goytree in the Lordship of Abergavenny formerly part of the Lords wast .

To have and to hold the said hundred acres unto the said Bartholomew dureing the naturall lives of the said Bartholomew William John Morrite of Llanvihangell Pont Mole and Richard Hanbury the son of Philip Hanbury of Trevethin in the sayd County of Monmouth or any such of them longest liveing under the rents covenants and reservations therein conteyned as by the said lease may appeare.

The before named Richard Hanbury living. As alsoe in consideration of the sume of forty pounds of lawfull English money unto him the said Lord George in hand payd as alsoe for the rents covenants and services herein set downe and to bee payd and pformed by the said Walter Cecill his heyers and assignes hath demised graunted and to farme let and by these p’sents doth demise graunt and to farme let and set unto the said Walter Cecill all the said land called Alt & Burgum by meares there well knowne.

And alsoe one other parcell of land called Tyr Gorvith haveing … held by Copy of Court Roll scituate on the mountayne neere the sayd Alt and Burgum conteyning about thirty acres bounded north by the free lands of the said Walter, east to the said Alt, south and west by the said Lords Comon or wast ground. And alsoe about forty acres of the said wast or …ntained ground lying on the east side of the said lands called Tyr Gorvith and adioyning to the said Alt (…? excepted out of this devise all mines of coale, iron oare or other mettalls whatsoever) to have and to hold all and singular the fore demised premises with theire & every of theyre appurtnances (except as in the before excepted) unto the said Walter Cecill his heyres and assignes for & dureing the naturall lives of James Cecill, Walter Cecill and Lary? Witnesseth that the said George Lord Abergavenny for and in consideration of the sume of three pound ten shillings of lawfull English money unto him payd before the sealing of these p’sents and for divers other causes and consideration to him there unto …. hath demised graunted and to farme let and by these presents doth demise graunt and to farme let and set? unto the said Roger Richards all that cottage wherein one Alse Robert (mother of the said Roger) doth now inhabit together wth fower akres of land to the said cottage adjoyning all which premises are scituate lying and being in or upon a comon or wast of the said Lords called Pettenny wthin the said parish of Goytre bounded on the south west by a way leading from Abergavenny towards Usk and on the other parts by the lands of Hugh Harries gent and the said west to have and to hold all and singular the fore demised p’misses with thappurtenances unto the said Roger Richard his heyres and assigns for and dureinge the naturall lives of the said Roger Richards, …. his now wife & Blanch Prichard daughter of Wm Pric’d of Goytre and the longest liver of them three yeldinge and payinge therefore yearly unto the said George Lord Abergavenny his heyres and assignes the sume of two shillings of lawfull English money at two tymes or termes in the yeare (vizt) at every the feast of St Michael Tharkangel and thannunciation of our blessed Lady St Mary the Virgin by equall porcons and three shillings in the name of a herriot at the decease or chang of every tenant of the premises dureing the said terme and if it shall happen the said yearly rent of two shillings or three shillings in the name of a herriot to bee behind and unpayd for the space of fifteene dayes next any of the tymes whereon they ought to bee paid being lawfully demanded that ….. from thence forth this present demise to cease and determine any thing herein conteyned to the contrary notwithstanding and the said Roger Richard for himselfe his exors adm’rs & assignes doth heereby covenant to and with the said George Lord of Abergavenny his heyres and assignes that hee the said Roger Richard his exors adm’rs & assignes shall and will at his owne proper cost and charge well and sufficiently repayre the said cottage and alsoe well and sufficiently repayre and amend all the hedges fences & ditches in and around the fower acres of land heereby demised and the same being soe well & sufficiently repayed shall keepe in good and tenentable reparacons and at the end or sooner determination of this demise soe well repayed shall peaceably yeld up unto the said George Lord of Abergavenny his heyres or assignes and the said George Lord Abergavenny doth by these presents authorise and in his place put his well beloved freind Will’m Morgan of Goytre ………. his lawfull atturney for him and in his name to enter into the premises or any part thereof to give livery of seisin in the name of the whole unto the said Roger Richard. In the name of God Amen this seaven and twenteeth day of June one thousand six hundred ninety two I Richard William Griffith of Goytre in the County of Monmoth yeoman being sick in body but of sound & perfect memory thanks bee to Almighty God, doe make and ordeine this my last Will & Testamt in maner following revoaking all other Wills by mee formerly made.

First I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of Almighty God hopeing through the meritoreious death & passion of Christ Jesus my Saviour to have full pardon of all my sins and my body to bee buryed in Christian buryall in the church of Goytre, and as to that pte of tempall goods wch God hath bestowed upon mee I dispose of the same as followeth.

First I give unto my son James five busshells of eatch sort of graine and corne wch is now growing and standing on my lands, and also all my implem’ts of husbandry. It I give unto my grand child An Morgan forty shillings to bee layd out by my daughter Maud for her use and advantage till shee comes to the age of fifeteene yeares. It I give to my daughter Jane ye least of my brass pots. It I give unto my grand child Mary Morgan two ewes and lambs. It I give betweene others of my daughters Maud, Katherine & Elizabeth all my goods catle and chattles as well with in doores as wth out to bee equally disposed betweene them, and in case they cannot agree upon the divident amongst themselves, my will is yt Will Morgan my nephew of Lanvayre Gilgedin & Thomas Ridley of the same shall decide the controversy, they being hereby desired and chosen to bee ov’rseers of this my Will. In the name of God Amen the eighth day of October Anno Regni Regis Willi Tertii nunc Anglia &c duodecimo Annoq domi 1700 I Mathew William alias Mathew William Mathew of the pish of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth yeoman, being some what (as to my health) indisposed in body but of sound and pfect disposeing condicon (thanks be to God) doe make and ordeine this my last will and Testamt in manner following, principally I commend my soule into the hands of God almighty hopeing through the mirritts of his sonne Jesus Christ to receive remission of my sinns, and that my soule shall enjoy endlesse blisse in the Kingdome of Glory. And as to such terrestiall blessing which God beyond my deserts hath bestowed upon me, I dispose of the same ine sort as under specified expressed and declared.

Item I give devise and bequeath unto Mary my wife all my messuadges lands and tenem’ts wheresoever lyeing in the sev’all pishes of Goytrey and Mamhilad in the said County of Monmoth to hold the same to her and her assignes dureing her naturall life and after her decease, I give and devise the same p’misses unto my sonne William to hold the same to my sayd [page damaged. 2 lines unreadable. ] the moyety of the sayd p’misses to my sayd sonne William his heires and assignes forever. To hold the same moyety unto my said sonne William his heires and assignes forever. Item I give and bequeath to and between my younger children, namely, Phillip, David, John, Thomas and Catherine the sume of five pownds a peece to be payd to each of them by my sayd sonne William his heires or assignes in one yeare after the decease of Mary my sayd wife. And I doe hereby charge all and singular the sayd p’misses to and with the paymt of the sayd sev’all sumes of five pownds. And lastly I doe nominate? And apoint my said wife and my said sonne William to bee joint executors of this my last will and Testamt. In wittnesse whereof I have heerunto sett my hand and seale the day & yeare aboves’d.

Noverint universi per presents nos Walter Williams           pochi de Goytre     in Comitatu Monmouth Gent       &  William Jenkins of Usk in the same County Gent & William Morris of Mamhilad if the said County, Gent     teneri et firmiter obligari    libris       bone et Legalis monete Anglie solvendis eidem       aut certo attornato executorbus administrators vel assign suis ad quam quidem solutionem bene et fideliter faciendam obligamus nos et utrumque nostrum per se pro toto et in solidum heredes, executors et administrators nostros firmiter per presents per presentes sigillis nostris sigillatas Date 27 April 1697

The condition of this obligation is such that if ye above bounden Walter Williams of   ye pish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth administrator of all and singular ye goods chells and credits of    George Williams     late of ye pish of Goytre aforesaid deceased doe make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattells and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of   him the said Walter Williams or into the hands and possession of any person or persons for him and the same soe made doe exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Consistory Court of Landaffe at or before the first day of October next ensuing. And the same goods chattells and credits and all other the goods chattells & credits of the said deceased at the time of his     death which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said Walter James or into the hands & possession of any other person or persons for him doe well and truely administer according to law or further doe make or cause to be made a true and just accompt of   his sd ad’con at or before the 27th day of     April  and all the rest and residue of the said goods chattells and credits wch shall be found remaining upon the said administrators accompt the same being first examined and allowed by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said Court shall deliver unto such person or persons respectively as the said Judge or Judges by his or their decree or sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of a late Act of Parliament made in the two and twentieth and three and twentieth years of ye reigne of our late Soveraigne Lord King Charles the second intitled an Act for ye better settling of intestates estates, shall limitt and appoint. and if it shall hereafter appeare that any last will and Testament was made by the said deceased and the executor or executors therein named doe exhibit the same into the said Court making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly if the said    Walter James         above bounden being thereunto required doe render and deliver the sd Letters of Administration (approbation of such testament being first had and made) in the said Court then this obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remaine in full force and virtue.

In the name of God Amen the ninth day of July according to the computation of the Church of England one thousand six hundred and ninety and six.

I Joan Richard alias Morgan of the parish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth within the diocese of Landaff being sick in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God do make constitute ordayne and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following revoking by these ? Wills heretofore by me made and declared either by word or by writing. And this to be taken only form last will and testament and none other and first being penitent and sorry for my sins most humbly begging pardon and forgiveness for the same. I give and? my soul unto Almighty God my saviour and redeemer in whom by the merit of Jesus Christ and trust and believe assuredly to be saved and to have full remission and forgiveness of all my sins And now for the settling of my temporal estate and ? Goods as it hath pleased God far above my desert to bestow upon me.   I do order and give and dispose the same in manner and form following.

Ite First I ? Of my debts and funeral charges shall be paid and discharged.

Item give and bequeath towards my funeral expenses the sum of ten pounds to be paid by my executor thereafter named.

Ite I give and bequeath unto Jane and Gwenllian the daughters of David Beevan of Goytrey the sum of forty pounds to be equally divided between them and paid by my executor within the space of two years next after my decease towards the use of the said Jane and Gwenllian to be set out by my executor all the best advantage for ye said of the said Jane and Gwenllian.

Ite. I give and bequeath unto Charles Morgan of Llanvihangel juxta Usk the son of Wm Morgan of Goytre the sum of ten pounds to be paid within the space of two years next after my death.

Ite I give and bequeath unto Jane the wife of David Beevan of Goytrey the sum of ten pounds to be paid within the space of? Years next after my decease.

Ite I give and bequeath unto Gwenllian the wife of William Morgan William of Goytrey the sum of twenty shillings.

Ite. I give unto Ann the wife of William Watkins Thos of Goytrey and their son Richard and the sum of one pound to be divided between them.

Ite. I give unto Jon Watkin Thomas, Andrew Morgan, Jenkin William and Jas Rosser of Goytrey the sum of one pound to be equally divided between them:

Ite. I give unto Jane the wife of David Beevan of Goytrey all my wearing apparell.

All the rest and residue of my personal estate goods and chattels whatsoever I give and bequeath unto William Morgan of the parish of Goytrey whom I constitute name and appoint free and sole executor of this my last will and testament in witness thereof I the said Joan Richard alias Morgan to this my last will and sett my hand and seal the day and year above. In the eighth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord William the ? King of England.
