In the name of God Amen the tenth day of September in the one and twentith year of the reign of our sov’raigne Lord Charles the second 1669 I William Phillipp of the pish of Goytre sick of body but of good and perfect memorie, God be praised, doe make this my last will and Testam’t in maner and forme followinge, that is to say.

First I comend my Soule into the hands of God my maker hopeing assuredly through the only merits of Jesus Christ my saviour to be made partaker of life everlastinge, and I comend my body to the earth whereof it is made.

Item I give and bequeath to my brother John Phillipp tenne shillings and an sheepe.

Item I give to Anne my wife ten shillings and one sheepe.

Item I give and bequeath to Juan my sister one…?

Item I give and bequeath to Howell my nephew ten shillings and one sheepe.

Item I give to Margaret my nece ten shillings and one sheepe and a bed stedle and a chest and a table.

Item I give and bequeath to Lewis my brother in law one coult. And I make Katherine David my wife, executrix of this my last will and Testam’t.

The condition of this obligation is such that whereas Letters of Administration of all the goods cattles & debts of Wm Jones, Minister, late of Goitre deceased were granted &……… Reverend Father in God, W.. Jones his…. if … doe pay all ye debts of the sayd deceased soe farr forth as the sayd goods will there unto extend and ye law him binde and moreover yeald and render as well a true and pfect inventory as alsoe a faithfull and just accompt of and upon the sayd goods and the administration thereof at such time and when as he shall bee there unto lawfully required. And lastly defend and save harmeles the above named Reverend Father in God and all and every his officers whomesoever in all co’ts ands ag’ all psons for touching and concerning the granting of the sayd adm’con that then this pr’sent obligacon to be voyd and of non effect or els the same to be & remaine in full force & vertue. In the name of God Amen the tenth day of Aprill in the thirteenth yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the faith &c I William Jones of Goytrey in the Countie of Monmouth gent being weake of body but of pfect mind and memory (praise be given unto Almighty God) doe make and ordeyne this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following.

First I resigne my Soule into the hands of my redeemer well knowing that what is there lodged cannot be taken thence and my body to be buried in Christian buriall in the pish church of Goytrey.

I give devise and bequeath to William the reputed sonne of Rees Jones my sonne the sume of one hundred pounds & my will is that Charles Hughes of Trellegg doe dispose of the same att interest upon good security and cause the increase and interest of the same to be duly paid for and toward the maintenance of the sayd William untill he shall attaine unto his full yeares of one and twenty, but if in the meanetime the sayd Charles Hughes doth find any way of disposing of him to any advantagious imployment for his better support hereafter in the world, then my will is that by the consent of his father eyther the sayd whole sume of one hundred pounds or soe much thereof as they shall thinke fitt & find usefull for the doeing of the same be disposed of for that purpose.

Alsoe I give unto Edward the reputed sonne of Rees Jones my sonne the sume of fiftie pounds which saied sume is now in the possession of my saied sonne Rees Jones? my will is that the same be likewise disposed of att interest upon security by my? saied loveing friend Mr Charles Hughes & that the interest & increase of the same be duely paied towards the mainetenance & support of the sayd Edward untill he be of a fitting age to be placed in some calling and profession in the world and then my will is that my friend Mr Hughes with the consent of his father doe settle, place and dispose of him & his money as to my saied friend shall seeme most fitt & convenient.

My further will is that if eyther of the sayd children doe dye before they atteine unto the age of one and twenty or be by my sayd friend Mr Charles Hughes disposed of into imployments or professions then my will is that the sume hereby given unto him that shall happen to dye doe remaine & be payd & I hereby give and bequeath the same unto him that shall happen to survive of them & if both of them doe happen to dye before they attaine & come unto the age aforesayd or be disposed of as before directed, then my will is I doe hereby give and bequeath the sayd severall sumes unto Rees Jones my sonne (if he be then liveing)

Item I doe devise and bequeath unto Rees Jones my sonne all my lands and tenements in Llanelen to have and to hould to him his executors administrators or assignes duering all the time and tearme yet to come and unexpired in the same.

Item I give devise and bequeath unto Gwenllian Thomas my servant one blacke cowe and calfe.

Alsoe I doe nominate & appoint my sonne Rees Jones my sole executor of this my will.

In the name of God Amen the thirtieth daie of November in the yere of our Lord God 1667 and in the yeres of the raigne of our most gracious Sovraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of England, Scotland Fraunce and Ireland Kinge Defender of the faieth &c the ninteenth I William John of the pishe of Goitre in the Countie of Monmoth and Diocs of Landaph yoman callinge to remembrance the uncertenty of mans life not knowinge when nor where these our mortal bodies shalbe disolved and mindinge by God grace to settle in order such transitorie things as God hath blessed mee wth all to the intent that my mind may be unburthed wth the care thereof whensoever it shall please God to cale for me or ells to visict me wth more extreimitie? of sicknes beinge now sick in bodie but of good and pfect memorie laud and praese be given to Almightie God doe make and ordaine this my last will and Testament in writtinge in maner and forme folowinge (that is to saie) first and principally I comend my soule to Almightie God my Creator and to Jesus Christ my redeamer by whose most precious death and passion I hope to have forgivenes of all my sinns and my bodie to be buried in xpian buriall.

Item I give and bequeath towards the Cathedrall Church of Landaph vid. Item I give to the person of Goytre towards my forgotten tieth vid.

Item I give and divise to Catherine my wife duringe her naturall life only the messuadge wherein I doe now inhabit (except the loft that is over the sd house and one chamber alesoe wch I doe give and divise to Elizabeth my daughter) the barnes outhouses garden … and all the lands arrable meadow and pasture belonginge to the sd messuadge I doe give and divise to my wife Caterine duringe her naturall lif only and after her decesse I doe give and divise the said messuage barne outhouses lands and premisses wth thappurtences lyinge and beinge in the pishe of Goytre and Countie of Monmoth aforesaid to Elizabeth my daughter and to the heires of her bodie lawfully begotten and in default of such issue I doe give and devise the said messuage barne outhouses and all the lands and premisses belonginge to the said messuage to Jane William my daughter her heires and assignes forever and in consideracon of the gift that I have made of the said messuage barne outhouses lands and premisses to my daughter Elizabeth I doe ordaine and appoynt my daughter Elizabeth to pay unto my daughter Jane William the some of five pownds of current money of England in maner and forme folowinge (that is to saie) the some of twentie shillings wthin six monthes next after my decesse and the fower powndes beinge the residue of the said five pownds wthin two yeres next after the decesse of Caterine my said wife. Item I give and bequeath to Caterine my wife two coffers two crocks one kittle one friinge pann two stands one barell two bowles wch my wife brought heere. Item I give to my wife Caterine the best pige that is fattinge? 3 bushells of barlie two bushells of oats two bushells of wheat and 1 bushell of muncorne.

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one milch kow and one weaninge callff and two mares all my corne threshed and unthreshed and all my houshould stuff unbequeathed alreadie and the rest of all my goods moveables and unmoveables unbequeathed all my debts payed and my funerall expences dischardged I doe heereby give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth whom I doe ordaine nominat and appoynt sole executrix of the my last will and Testament and doe disanull all other wills by mee made.

In the name of God Amen, I Phillipp Gwalechme of the pish of Goytrey in the Countie of Monmoth and Dioces of Landaff, husbandsman, being sick in body but of good and pfect memorie laud and praise be to Almightie God, doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in maner and forme following:

First I doe comend my soule to the Almightie God my only savior and redeemer and my body to be buried in Chrtian buraill wthin the pish church of Goytrey.

Imprimis: I doe give and bequeath towards the church of Landaff 6d.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother Morgan Gwalechme one cowe wch is in the custody of James Rosser William of Trevethin wth six shillings hire, and another cowe that is in the coustody of William Jenkin of the same pish wth seven shillings hire.

Item: I give and bequeath to my sister Jane one cowe colered black that is in my owne keeping immediately after my decese.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother on cowe that is in my owne keeping colered black wth a white taile.

Item: I give and bequeath to my sister Jane and Elizabeth my brother Thomas, his daughter six sheepe between them both.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother Morgan fower sheepe.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother Morgan two coults, the one colered black and the other brown bay.

Item: I give and bequeath two pigs between my brother Morgan and my sister Jane.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother Morgan and my sister Jane two kayveres of wheate be it more or less now growing in the pish of Lanelen.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother one kyvever of barley and oats growing upon his owne lands in the pish of Goytrey.

Item: I give and bequeath to my brother and sister all the corne growing upon the lands of Mr Water Rumsey esq., to be equally divided betweene them both.

Item: I give and bequeth to Margarett Thomas on bushel of wheate and one other bushel of barley immediately after my deces.

Item: I give and bequeth to Margarett Thomas one toolin spring wheel?.

Item: I give and bequeth to Elizabeth my neese one coffer wch is next to the best that I have.

Item: I give and bequeth the said Elizabeth on lynin sheete and on blanked.

Item: I give and bequeth to my brother and sister all my howsald stuff whatsoever I have nowe in my keeping.

Memorandum that Margaret Andrew of the pishe of Goytry in the Countie of Monmoth and diocs of Landaff spinster did make and declare her nuncupative will and Testament the sixt daie of July in the yere of our Lord 1665 in maner and forme folowinge (that is to saie) Shee did give and bequeath all her goods cattle houshould stuff ympeaments and all her moveables whatsoever unto William Andrew, her brother Howell Andrew and Francis John William to be equally devided betweene them in three parts (excepting one cow and one weaninge callff wch shee did give and bequeath to the psons heare after named. And shee did alsoe except out of the legacies given to [page damaged) Andrew and [page damaged.] dischardge all her debts and funerall expences and that to be fully dischardged by her executor William Andrew. Item shee did give and bequeath to Gwenllian the daughter of Francis John Wm the cowe before excepted. Item shee did give to Ann Jenkine the weaninge callff before excepted.
