In the name of God Amen I Mary Waters of the parishe of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth and within the diocese of Landaffe widdow, being sicke in body but of good and pfect memory, praise be given to unto Almighty God, do make and ordaine this to be my last will and testamt in manner and form following.

First and principally I commend my soule into the hands of the Allmighty God hopeing through the merrots of death and passion of my savio’r Jesuss Christ to full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit everlasting life and my body to be buried at the discretion of my executrix herinafter named.

Imprimis: I give and bequeath unto Mary Water the daughter of John Water the sume of two pounds after my decease when shee shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares and that are to be sett out to bear interest to her use from the day of my buriall untill shee attains the age of one and twenty years by my executrix.

Item; I give and bequeath unto my cosen Ann Pritchard the sume of five shillings within the space of one month after my decease to be paied by my executrix.

Item; I give and bequeath unto my cosen Ann Morgan Thomas the sume of five shillings within the space of one month after my decease to be paid by my executrix.

Item; I do nominate and appoint my cosen Sarah Bevan the wife of John Bevan of the parish of Goytre to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament, revoking disannulling making voyd all former wills ever made by me but that this only is to be my last will and testament, in witness hereof I have hereunto putt my hand and seale this nine and twentith day of February on thousand seven hundred and thirty one.

I Jane Charles of the pish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth &c wth in the Dioces of Llandaff, spinster, being sick in body but in sound and perfect memory, praise be therefore given to Almighty God; do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in mannor & form following yt is to say.

First & principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hopeing through ye meritts death and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full & free pardon & forgiveness of all my sins & to inheritt everlasting life, & my body I committ to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor and executrix herinafter named.

As touching the goods that God hath bestowed upon me I do dispose of in as followeth:

Imps: I give and bequeath unto my well beloved niece Mary Charles the wife – Jno. Morgan Harry of the parish of Goytre & William her younger son by the sd. Jno. Morgan Harry, the sum of eighteen pounds between them both to be equally divided after my decease, the wch. sum are in the hands of the persons hereafter mention’d, yt. it is to say ye. sum of six pounds in the hands of Francis Williams of ye. pish of Goytre; the sum of eight pounds in the hands of Anne Morgan of ye. pish of Lanover widdow, ye. sum of three pounds in the hands of Wm. Andrew of the pish of Goytre, the sum of one pound in the hands of James Rosser Jenkin in the said pish of Goytre;

Lastly I nominate, appoint and ordain my trusty well beloved niece Mary Charles ye. wife of Jno. Morgan Harry & William her youngest son by the said John Morgan Harry to be sole exector and executrix of this my last will and testament, Witness my hand and seal the day and year above written

I John James of ye pish of Goytre in ye County of Monmouth within ye Diocess of Landaffe labourer being sick in body but of good and perfect memory thanks be to almighty God doe make & ordaine this my last Will & Testament in maner & forme following (viz) First & principally I doe give my soul to Almighty God who gave it mee & my body to be decently buried in Christian burial. I doe give & bequeath towards ye repairing & upholdin of ye Cathedrall Church of Landaff one penny.

Imprimis I doe give & bequeath to my sone John James one wooden chaire yt is now in his possession & after my decease all my wearing apparell.

Ite I doe give & bequeath to my daughter Mary James one coubert & two peater dishes & one chaire

Ite I doe give & bequeath to my daughter Luie one table board & two benches belonging to it & two iron pots & stall for vessels & one bedsteed & one coffer

Ite I doe give & bequeath to Barbra my now beloved wife all bills bonds bargains houshould stuff & all other implem’ts whatsoev’r forev’r

Ite I doe make & ordaine Barbra my now beloved wife my whole & sole exect’r of this my last will & testam’t & I doe hereby utterly disallow revoke & annull all other former wills & Testamts whatsoev’r.

Know all me by these presents that we Charity Parry  of the parish of Clythur   in the County of   Monmouth widow and John Holmes of the same parish taylor     are held and firmly bound unto the Right Reverend Father in God Matthias   by divine permission Lord Bishop of   Landaffe     in the sum of   forty       pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop or to his certain attorney his executors administrators or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made. We oblige ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole our and each of our heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals dated   the 8th day of May   in the year of our Lord Christ 1739

 

The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Charity Parry the natural and lawfull sister and next of kinn of Barbara James   late of the parish of the parish of Goytre   in the County of   Monmouth and Diocese of Landaff widow deceased and administratrix of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of her     the said   Charity Parry     or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for   her and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the Registry of the Consistory Court of Landaffe     on or before the eighth day of November 1740  next ensuing and the same goods chattels and credits and all other the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased do well and faithfully administer according to law, that is to say, do pay the debts of the said deceased which she   did owe at   her   death and then the legacies contained and specified in the said Will annexed to the said Letters of Administration so to be committed as far as   her goods chattels and credits will thereto extend and the law charge     and further do make or cause to be made a true and just accompt of her     said administration when   she   shall be thereunto lawfully required. And all the rest and reside of the said goods chattels and credits which shall be found remaining upon the said administrat accompt and not otherwise disposed of in the said Will the same being first examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges of the said Court for the time being shall distribute and pay in such manner and form as shall be limited by the direction of the said Judge. And lastly do at all times hereafter clearly acquit discharge and save harmless the within named Lord Bishop the said Judge and all other officers of the said Court against all persons having or pretending to have any right title or interest in the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue.   The marke of Charity Parry; The marke of John Holmes

Know all me by these presents that we Robert Hughes of the parish of Trostrey in the County of Monmouth Esquire and James Davies of the parish of Landenny in the said County gentleman are held and firmly bound unto the Right Reverend Father in God John by divine permission Lord Bishop of   Landaffe in the sum of two thousand pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop or to his certain attorney his executors administrators or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made. We oblige ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole our and each of our heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals dated the seventeenth day of April in the seventh   year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c and in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred thirty and four

The Condition of this obligation is such that whereas the original last Will and Testament of Thomas Jenkins late of the parish of Goytrey in the County of Monmouth and Diocess of Landaffe Esquire deceased (bearing date the twentieth day of December in the third year of the Reigne of our said Sovereigne Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland King defender of the faith &c and in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred twenty and nine) is decreed to be delivered out of the Registry of the Consistory Court of Landaffe aforesaid unto the above bounden Robert Hughes one of the trustees therein named. If therefore the said Robert Hughes his heires executors or administrators or either of them shall and will redeliver the said originall Will … and uncancelled in manner as he received the same into the Registry aforesaid when and at such time as he shall be thereunto duely required then this obligation be void or else to remain in full force and vertue.

Ffirst of all I commend my soul into ye hands of God yt gave it hopeing to have free pardon of all my sins and my body I comitt to ye earth to be buried in a decent manner att ye discretion of me executor hereafter named as foll:

Imps: I give & bequeath unto my daughter Martha Lewis, ye wife of Timothy Lewis ye sum of ffive pounds to be paid as soon as they can be paid by Mrs Jones of Horimuis? Within ye space of one month next after my decease and also one 3 yearling heffer, one chaff, 4 pewter platters & pewter dish, one pewter candle stick, one brass skillett, 2 blankets & 2 sheets, one bushell of wheat and one cheese.

Imps: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Morgan ye sum of ffive pounds to be paid as afores’d. One cow and chest cupboard, 4 pewter platters a pewter dish, one brass candle stick, one iron marment and one baking tin, one feather bed wherein I now lye with it’s appurtenances and one chest and one black chair & one stone jug and 3 quarter barrott

Itm: I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Andrew ye sum of ffive pounds to be paid as afores’d one 2 yearling heiffer, 2 blanketts one bushells of wheat and one chest, one brass pot.

Itm: I give and bequeath unto Joshua Andrew ye sum of ffive pounds to be paid afores’d and ye little horse.

Itm: I give and bequeath unto Anne Andrew ye sum of ffifty shillings together with ffifty shillings she owes me wch making up ffive pounds to her likewise. One great caldron, one milking pail, one great tub, one stool, one great coffer, one dustbed, one sheet, one blankett, one cow caled Rawm goch, one rug, 4 pewter platters, 2 pewter dishes, one brass candlestick, one milking ironpot, bushell of wheat, one cheese, one cheese vate, one peck of oatmeal and one pig, one quarter barrott.

Itm: I give and bequeath all ye rest of my household goods, cattle and chattles whatsoever unto me belonging unto my son Benjamin Andrews whom I do hereby nominate & appoint to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament revoking, disannuling all former wills by me made or by any other writing whatsoever.
