William Lewis -Goytrey 1832

In the name of God Amen. I William Lewis of Berlanth Dowyleth in the parish of Goytra the County of Monmouth, farmer being weak in body but of sound memory, mind and understanding, praised be to God for the same do make this my last will and testament in maner and form following.

I do give and devise to my nephew Charles Lewis labourer liveing now in the hamlet of Glascoed in the said County all the farm, land, house and all the oute buildings and all apertencis that is on the premecis (all by the name of Berlanth Dowyleth) in the parish of Goytra in the said County for his heirs and assigns forever.

I also give and bequeth nephew Charles Lewis all the household goods, live and dead stock and implements of husbandry after my decease and for his own use and benefit.

I also give and devise to my nephew John Lewis of the parish of Goytra all that messuage, farm and land which I bought, situate in the parish of Llanvrechva in the said County, all the land, house barn and all the outbuildings that is on the premecis after my desces which is now in the occupation of John Edward as tenant, to hold unto the said John Lewis with the appurtenances his heirs and assigns forever.

I allso do give and devise to my nephew Charles Lewis, his eldest son William Lewis, I do give all that messuage, farm and lands situate in the parish of Lanthewye Vak in the said County, the land, the house, the barn and all the oute buildings that is on the premecis now in the occupation of William Morgan as tenant, to hold onto the said William Lewis with its appurtenances, the son of Charles Lewis at the age of 21 years then for his heirs and assigns forever.

All the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects of what natur or kind soever and wheresoever which I shall die possessed of I give and bequeath unto my said nephew Charles Lewis for his own use and benefit and I appoint him, the said John Lewis to sole executor.

In witness whereof I have to this my last will and set my hand and seal this seventeenth day of June the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.

Signed, sealed, published and delivered by the said William Lewis as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have hereunto subscribed our names as witnessess.

Charles Lewis and John Lewis the joint executors named in this will were duly sworn as such and that the goods chattles and credits of the deceased are under the value of one hundred pounds before me, Hugh Williams surrogate.
