In the name of God Amen the seaventeenth day of May in the yeare of our Lord God 1704 I William Morgan of Goytrey pish in the County of Monmoth batchelor being sicke of body but of good and pfect mind and memory praised be to the Allmighty God for the same doe make and ordayne this my last will and testamt in manner and forme following. Vizt. First I comend my Soule into the hands of the Allmighty God my maker and redeemer not doubting but by the blood & passion of my only Lord and saviour Jesus Christ to have full pardon and absolucon of my sins &c. And as for my body I committ it to the earth whereof it was made and to be buried in a Christian buryall by the discretion of executrix hereafter named.

Item whereas I have purchased of the Right Honorable George Lord of Bergavenny one cott and two acres of inclosed land being pte of the wast ground of Pelleny in the said County of Monmoth which said cott and two acres I hold by lease beareing date the nine and twentieth day of September 1701.

I doe hereby give bequeath and devise unto my welbeloved frind Jane William the daughter of Valentine William of Goytrey aforesaid the said cott and two acres of land & ev’y pte and pcell thereof with their app’tenances to have and to hold the said cott & two acres of land & ev’y pte and pcell thereof unto the said Jane William her executors, adm’rs and assigns for the residue of the tearme in the said lease unexpired.

Item I give and bequeath unto the said Jane William all & singular my goods cattells chattells & psonal estate whatsoe’r. And alsoe I doe hereby nominate and appoynte the said Jane William my sole executrix of this my last will & testament revokeing all former wills by me made.

In the name of God Amen I William Harry of the parish of Goytre and County of Monmouth & Diocess of Landaff labourer being now in good and perfect memory (thanks be to Almighty God) and calling to remembrance the uncertain state of this transitory life and that it is appointed for all men once to die I first and before all things commend my soul to Almighty God hoping through the merits of my redeemer Jesus Christ to have a full perfect remission and forgiveness of all my sins and to inherit the Kingdom of heaven and when it shall please God to call for me I committ my body to the earth to be decently and Christian like buried at the discretion of my executrix hereinafter named. And as for what temporal estate God has been pleased to bless me withal I do order and dispose them in manner and form following.

Imprimis. I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Harry ye sum of 20s of good lawfull money of Great Brittain to be paid when demanded after my discease.

Item. I give bequeath and demise to my well beloved daughter Mary Harry ye house where I now dwell together with ye gardens and orchards thereunto belonging, all ye houshold stuff also, and all manner of chattles both dead and alive, moveable and immovable, all debts likewise, dues, or demands yt I can lay claim to, or shall at any time hereafter and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said daughter Mary Harry to be ye sole and full executrix of this my last will and Testament revoking disanulling and making void all other wills and bequests by me made, and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament.

In the name of God Amen. I Valentine David of ye pish of Goytre in ye county of Monmouth and diocese of Landaff, labourer, being sick and weak in body but of sound and perfect memory [thanks be to God] do ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following:

First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my maker in hope of receiving pardon and forgiveness of all my sins through ye meritts of my saviour Jesus Xt. my body to be decently buried at ye discretion of my executrix herinafter named. And as for yt temporall goods & chattels it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I dispose of ye in manner following:

First: I give, devise and bequeath ye house in now I do live wth. ye lands belonging to it [or appears by ye lease] to Margarett my daughter for her natural life towards her maintenance I give her also one bed wth. everything appertaining to it, one iron small pott.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son John ye mare yt. is now in my possession.

Item: I give to my daughter Cecilia ye. calf yt is now bwd for ye cow yt is in my possession. Also I give her one feather bolster.

Item: I give to my daughter Mary one iron pott.

Item: My will is yt my son William to enjoy ye house and lands where I do live, after ye decease of my daughter Margarett, or sooner if he consents and agrees wth. ye executrix for payment of such rent [as shall be covenanted] during ye life of ye sd Margarett for and towards her maintenance.

Item: I give and bequeath ye house and small spott of ground adjoining where my son William now lives to my son John after ye decease of my sister Jane Wm David.

Item: My will is yt my debts and funeral expenses be paid wth all convenient speed after my decease by my executrix.

Lastly I give, devise and bequeath one cow to my daughter Jane yt is now in my possession and every thing after yt is not before bequeath or expressed.

I also ordain and nominate my sd daughter Jane to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament & to take care of her sister Margarett.

I do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following [that is to say]

First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through ye meritts wrath and passion of my saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins and to enjoy everlasting life, and my body I comitt to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named. And as for the disposition of all my temporal estate as it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and dispose hereof as foll:

Item: I give, devise and bequeath all my freehold lands, tenem.ts with all and singular the appurtenances thereof, situate lying and being in the parish of Goytrey and county of Monmouth nearing to the lands of John Hanbury esq. The lands of Thomas Jenkin esq. The lands of Jenett Jenkin widdow, and the highway leading from Carlon to Bergavenny, on all or most parts and sides thereof; all of wch said lands and premises wth all said barns thereto belonging wth all and singular the appurtenances thereof.

I give, devise and bequeath as afores.d unto Mary my wife during the time that she shall continue my widdow: but if she should happen to marry or take to husband any person or cohabit wth any person as man & wife, then I give the fors.d lands & premises immediately between Mary and Elizabeth my 2 daughters there likewise and to their heirs and assigns forever:

Item: I give & bequeath unto Mary my daughter two heifers, one a yearling and the other 2 years old, and one old mare.

Item: I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth my daughter, two heifers the one a yearling, and the other 3 years old.

Item: I give & bequeath unto Mary my wife three cows and one mare colt.

Item: I give & bequeath all my sheep between Mary my wife and my 2 daughters share alike.

Item: I give unto Mary my daughter one great brass pann: all the rest of my household stuff whatsoever I give and bequeath between Mary my wife and my two daughters share alike:

Divising my neighbour Jenkin Rosser and James Rosser of Goytrey to part ye said household stuff equally between them allowing to the best of their skill and judgement.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my brother William John the sum of one shilling.

All the rest and residue of my personall estate, goods & chattles whatsoever I give and bequeath unto Mary my daughter who I nominate & appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke, disanull and make void all former wills by me made and this only to be taken for my last and no other.

First and principally I commend my Soule into ye hands of Almighty God my maker and hopeing through ye merritts death and passion of my saviour Jesus Xt to have full and free pardon and forgiveness for all my sins and to inheritt everlasting life and my body I committ to ye earth to be decently interred att ye discretion of my executor herein after named.

And as for touching ye disposition of all my temporal estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as follows.

First and principally my will is yt all my debts and funerall charges be paid wth all convenience after my decease.

I give and bequeath to Anne my well beloved wife all my freehold estate together wth ye houses, orchards, outhouses and conveniences thereunto belonging in as large and ample a manner as I pr’sent enjoy ye same for and dureing her naturall life.

And after her decease I give, devise and bequeath ye sd freehold estate wth its appurtenances unto my beloved son William (wch estate lieth in ye pish of Goytrey now in my possession) for and in consideration yt my said son William shall pay his brother Thomas, my second son, ye sume of twelve pownds of good and lawfull money of Great Brittain at three severall payments after ye decease of my beloved wife wn he enjoys ye same that is to say, the sume of four pownds at ye expiration of one year after ye sd possession and so to continue ye payment of four pownds more ye ensuring year and likewise ye third year ye aforesd payment of four pownds to my sd son Thomas or assigns.

And further my will is yt if my son William refuses to pay to his brother Thomas ye sd sume of twelve pounds as before recited at ye times and days of payment, yt yn it may be lawfull for my son Thomas to enjoy and keep ye sd freehold estate for and dureing ye term of three years before expressed towards payment and consideration of ye sd twelve pounds.

Item: I give and bequeath all my personal estate, household stuff, corn and moveables of wt kind soever with all my corn grain and hay growing or in ye barns wth ye implements of husbandry to Anne my beloved wife, for and dureing her natural life. After her decease I give and bequeath to my beloved son William ye great table wth ye forms belonging to it and ye bench by ye garden window and likewise ye shelves yt hold ye pewter wth two lest? Barrells and also ye table in ye chamber where I lye usually holds ye milk, wth one bedsteed yt is in ye chamber.

I also give to my sd son William one shilling to be pd him in one months time after ye decease of my sd wife by my executors herinafter named.

Item: I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Anne ye daughter of my sd son William ye chest yt is in ye chamber.

Item: I give and bequeath to my sd son Thomas all ye remainder of my personal estate, household stuff and stock wth all ye moveables of wt kind soever yt is not before bequeathed after ye decease of my sd wife.

And lastly I do nominate and ordain my sd son Thomas to be sole executor of this my last will and testament and doe hereby revoke and make void all former wills by me heretofore made.

Noverint universi per presents nos   Jane Morgan   pochi de Goytre     in Comitatu   Monmouth and Thomas William of the parish of Lanvair Kilkidin in the said County yeoman     teneri et firmiter obligari       bone et Legalis monete Anglie solvendis eidem       aut certo attornato executorbus administrators vel assign suis ad quam quidem solutionem bene et fideliter faciendam obligamus nos et utrumque nostrum per se pro toto et in solidum heredes, executors et administrators nostros firmiter per presents per presentes sigillis nostris sigillatas Date 8 October 1712

The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Jane Morgan widdow the relict & administratrix of BLANK         do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of BLANK   the said         or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for   BLANK and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the Registry of the Consistory Court of   Landaffe   on or before   BLANK       next ensuing and the same goods chattels and credits and all other the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased do well and faithfully administer according to law, that is to say, do pay the debts of the said deceased which BLANK   did owe at     BLANK   death and then the legacies contained and specified in the said Will annexed to the said Letters of Administration so to be committed as far as   BLANK       goods chattels and credits will thereto extend and the law charge     and further do make or cause to be made a true and just accompt of   BLANK said administration when       shall be thereunto lawfully required. And all the rest and reside of the said goods chattels and credits which shall be found remaining upon the said administrat accompt and not otherwise disposed of in the said Will the same being first examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges of the said Court for the time being shall distribute and pay in such manner and form as shall be limited by the direction of the said Judge. And lastly do at all times hereafter clearly acquit discharge and save harmless the within named Lord Bishop the said Judge and all other officers of the said Court against all persons having or pretending to have any right title or interest in the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue.

In the Name of God Amen. I Charles Phillip of ye pish of Goytre in ye County of Monmouth & Diocese of Landaff, labourer, being infirm and weak in body but of sound and perfect memory (praise be given to Almighty God) do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my maker hoping through ye merit of death and passion of my saviour Jesus Xt to have full and perfect pardon of all my sins. I commit my body to ye earth to be decently buried and as for ye temporall estate it has pleased God to bestow upon me I, I give devise and bequeath ye same as followeth:

Imp’s I give, devise and bequeath to Catherine by beloved wife all ye leasehold land wth ye house and barn adjoyning in as long and ample manner to enjoy ye same, being part of ye waste of Pellenny Comon for and during her natural life.

And after her decease I devise and bequeath ye sd lease together with its appurtenances to Margaret my beloved daughter for and during her naturall life wch sd lease in ye pish of Goytre as now fully may appear upon ye lease.

And after ye death of ye said Margaret, I give, devise and bequeath ye sd lease to John my beloved son and after his decease to Rachell my beloved daughter for and during her naturall life, wch sd —- have their lives mentioned in ye sd lease.

Item. I give, devise and bequeath another lease hold yt is part of Pellenny Comon, wth ye leasehold land of Wm Prichard and ye household lands of Ann Mathews widdow, to Jane my beloved daughter for and during her naturall life.

And after her decease, I devise and bequeath yt sd lease to my beloved daughter Elizabeth, and after her decease to my beloved son John for and during his life wch ye sd lives have their lives exposed in ye sd lease.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son John ye sum of four pounds of lawfull Brittish money to be pd him upon two equal payments wthin 2 years by my sd daughter Margarett after she enjoys ye sd lease.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary ye sum of ten shillings and likewise to my granddaughter Elizabeth, ye daughter of James Wm. ye sum of ten shillings, wch sd sum of twenty shillings is to be pd to my daughter Jane at ye expiration of one year after she enjoys ye sd lease.
