Francis Morgan – Goytrey 

 In the name of God Amen. I Francis Morgan of the parish of Goytrey in the county of Monmouth carpenter being weak in body but of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praised be to God for the same do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following:

I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Mary Harris seven Pounds.

I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Margaret Morgan seven pounds and the dresser and shelves.

I give unto my granddaughter Ann Prosser the writing desk.

All the rest and residue of my goods chattels and effects of what nature or kindsoever or wheresoever the same may be at the time of my death I give and bequeath unto my loving son in law John Prosser and granddaughter Ann Prosser.

And I do nominate and appoint the said John Prosser sole executor of this my last will and testament herby revoking and making void all other will or wills made by me at any time hereto before made rectifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament.

In The Name of God Amen I Francis Williams of the Parish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth (late farmer) do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to say:

I devise and bequeath all and singular my real and personal Estates of what nature or kind soever, after payment of my just debts and funeral expenses unto my beloved wife Margaret William for and during the term of her natural life.

And from and after her decease I give and bequeath what she dies possessed of unto my loving son William William and Cecilia William his wife of the parish of Mamhilad in the said county.

In the name of God Amen. I Frederick Jenkin of the parish of Goytre in the county of Monmouth diocese of Landaff, being sick of body but of sound and perfect memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following.

I commend my soul into the hands of God my Saviour and my body I comitt to the earth to be buried in a Christian Burial.

And as for my worldly goods, estate and effects I give devise and bequeath as follows:

First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Charity Jenkin that field which is a freehold estate, during her natural life. Likewise I give the leasehold that I have with ye house and garden and field to my beloved wife Charity during her natural life.

Also I give the wood growing upon the field which is my freehold estate to my fore.sd wife, Charity, also I give all my goods, cattle and chattels unto my fores.d wife Charity.

And after my wife’s decease I give that field which is my freehold and the house and field which is my leasehold to my son William Frederick, his heirs and assigns forever.

Only my son William Frederick is to pay two pounds ten shillings to my daughter Elizabeth Saunders of current Brittish money whom the afores.d William Frederick has possession of the afores.d estate and lease hold. Likewise my son William Frederick is to pay two pounds ten shillings of current Brittish money to my daughter Ann Harry when he has possession of the afores.d premises.

Be it remembered that the afores.d Charity my wife is not to sell any of the wood growing upon my afores.d estate, but only she may use in moderation as much as she uses for firing.

I order likewise my wife Charity to pay the interest of the five pounds yearly during her natural life which I took as mortgage from John Mason upon my freehold estate.

Likewise I order my son William Frederick to pay afores.d sum of five pounds where he has possession of the fores.d estate and sooner if it be required to be paid.

Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary’s children one shilling apiece of current Brittish money to be paid by my afores.d son William Frederick when he has possession of the afores.d estate.

Likewise I nominate and appoint my wife Charity to be my only and sole executrix of this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty first day of January in the ye of our Lord 1740.

The condition of this obligation is such that if ye above bounden Walter Williams of   ye pish of Goytre in the County of Monmouth administrator of all and singular ye goods chells and credits of    George Williams     late of ye pish of Goytre aforesaid deceased doe make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattells and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of   him the said Walter Williams or into the hands and possession of any person or persons for him and the same soe made doe exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Consistory Court of Landaffe at or before the first day of October next ensuing. And the same goods chattells and credits and all other the goods chattells & credits of the said deceased at the time of his     death which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said Walter James or into the hands & possession of any other person or persons for him doe well and truely administer according to law or further doe make or cause to be made a true and just accompt of   his sd ad’con at or before the 27th day of     April  and all the rest and residue of the said goods chattells and credits wch shall be found remaining upon the said administrators accompt the same being first examined and allowed by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said Court shall deliver unto such person or persons respectively as the said Judge or Judges by his or their decree or sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of a late Act of Parliament made in the two and twentieth and three and twentieth years of ye reigne of our late Soveraigne Lord King Charles the second intitled an Act for ye better settling of intestates estates, shall limitt and appoint. and if it shall hereafter appeare that any last will and Testament was made by the said deceased and the executor or executors therein named doe exhibit the same into the said Court making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly if the said    Walter James         above bounden being thereunto required doe render and deliver the sd Letters of Administration (approbation of such testament being first had and made) in the said Court then this obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remaine in full force and virtue.

I Elizabeth Richard of Goytre in the County of Monmoth & Diocesse of Landaph widdow, beinge sicke in body but of good & p’ffecte memory God be praysed doe make & ordeyne my last Will & testam’t in manner & forme followinge (that is to say), first I doe commend my soule to Almighty God my maker & redeemer & my body to be buried in Christian buriall.

Alsoe I doe give & bequeath towards the Cathedrall Church of Landaph six pence.

Ite I doe give & bequeath unto Jane William my granchild three sheepes. Ite I doe give & bequeath unto the daughter of my younger? sonne William Richard the sum of forty shillings.

Know all men by these presents that we Charles Elias Bird of the parish of Goytre in the county of Monmouth esquire and the Reverend William Evans of Usk in the county of Monmouth Clerk are held and firmly bound unto the right Reverend father in God Edward by divine permission Lord Bishop of Llandaff in the sum of Forty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid unto the said Lord Bishop or to his certain Attorney his executors administrators or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made. We oblige ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole our and each of our heirs, executors and administrators firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, dated the twenty seventh day of October in the seventh year of the reign if our sovereign Lady Victoria by the grace of God of the united Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland , Queen, defender of the faith and in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty three.

The condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Elias Bird the lawful son one of the next of kin and administrator of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of Elizabeth Bird late of the parish of Goytrey in the county of Monmouth, widow deceased. Do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come into the hands possession or knowledge of him the said Elias Bird or into the hands or possession of any other person or persons for him and the same so made exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Consistory court of Landaff at or before the last day of April next ensuing and the same goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased at the time of her death which at any time after shall come to the hands, possession of the said Elias Bird or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons of him do well and truly administer according to law And further do make or cause to be made a true and just account of the said administration at or before the last day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four. I give, devise and bequeath to my loving nephew William Griffiths and Sarah his wife, all my mony, securities for mony, goods, chattels estates and effects of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever the same shall be at the time of my death. In the name of God Amen. I Gwyllim Jenkin of ye pish of Goytrey in ye County of Monmouth and diocese of Landaf, labourer, being in tolerable health of body and of sound and perfect mind and memory, praised be therefore to Almighty God, doe make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, (that is to say:)

First and principally I commend my Soule into ye hands of Almighty God my maker and hopeing through ye merritts death and passion of my saviour Jesus Xt to have full and free pardon and forgiveness for all my sins and to inheritt everlasting life and my body I committ to ye earth to be decently interred att ye discretion of my executor herein after named.

And as for touching ye disposition of all my temporal estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose thereof as follows.

First and principally my will is yt all my debts and funerall charges be paid wth all convenience after my decease.

I give and bequeath to Anne my well beloved wife all my freehold estate together wth ye houses, orchards, outhouses and conveniences thereunto belonging in as large and ample a manner as I pr’sent enjoy ye same for and dureing her naturall life.

And after her decease I give, devise and bequeath ye sd freehold estate wth its appurtenances unto my beloved son William (wch estate lieth in ye pish of Goytrey now in my possession) for and in consideration yt my said son William shall pay his brother Thomas, my second son, ye sume of twelve pownds of good and lawfull money of Great Brittain at three severall payments after ye decease of my beloved wife wn he enjoys ye same that is to say, the sume of four pownds at ye expiration of one year after ye sd possession and so to continue ye payment of four pownds more ye ensuring year and likewise ye third year ye aforesd payment of four pownds to my sd son Thomas or assigns.

And further my will is yt if my son William refuses to pay to his brother Thomas ye sd sume of twelve pounds as before recited at ye times and days of payment, yt yn it may be lawfull for my son Thomas to enjoy and keep ye sd freehold estate for and dureing ye term of three years before expressed towards payment and consideration of ye sd twelve pounds.

Item: I give and bequeath all my personal estate, household stuff, corn and moveables of wt kind soever with all my corn grain and hay growing or in ye barns wth ye implements of husbandry to Anne my beloved wife, for and dureing her natural life. After her decease I give and bequeath to my beloved son William ye great table wth ye forms belonging to it and ye bench by ye garden window and likewise ye shelves yt hold ye pewter wth two lest? Barrells and also ye table in ye chamber where I lye usually holds ye milk, wth one bedsteed yt is in ye chamber.

I also give to my sd son William one shilling to be pd him in one months time after ye decease of my sd wife by my executors herinafter named.

Item: I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Anne ye daughter of my sd son William ye chest yt is in ye chamber.

Item: I give and bequeath to my sd son Thomas all ye remainder of my personal estate, household stuff and stock wth all ye moveables of wt kind soever yt is not before bequeathed after ye decease of my sd wife.

And lastly I do nominate and ordain my sd son Thomas to be sole executor of this my last will and testament and doe hereby revoke and make void all former wills by me heretofore made.

The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bounden Jane Morgan widdow the relict & administratrix of BLANK         do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of BLANK   the said         or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for   BLANK and the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the Registry of the Consistory Court of   Landaffe   on or before   BLANK       next ensuing and the same goods chattels and credits and all other the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased do well and faithfully administer according to law, that is to say, do pay the debts of the said deceased which BLANK   did owe at     BLANK   death and then the legacies contained and specified in the said Will annexed to the said Letters of Administration so to be committed as far as   BLANK       goods chattels and credits will thereto extend and the law charge     and further do make or cause to be made a true and just accompt of   BLANK said administration when       shall be thereunto lawfully required. And lastly do at all times hereafter clearly acquit discharge and save harmless the within named Lord Bishop the said Judge and all other officers of the said Court against all persons having or pretending to have any right title or interest in the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue.
